A one-page monthly report your manager will actually read
2025-05-07
Monthly reports grow until nobody reads them. The fix is a strict page limit and a fixed structure: what changed, why we think it changed, what we are doing about it, what we are unsure of, and what we need from other people.
Put the single most important number at the top with last month beside it. Everything below that number should explain it, not decorate it.
End with one decision you need. A report without a request is easy to agree with and easy to forget.
